The real reason you don’t have abs
Every guy wishes they had a six-pack. We know you love beer, but we are not talking about that. What we mean are your abdominal muscles. Yes, we know you already broke your new year’s resolution, and those abs you wished you had right now are just not there. Pinstripe put together a list of the real reasons why you don’t have abs. Keep reading and see if you are guilty of any of the following:
1. It’s not in your Genes
Sorry buddy, just admit it already and accept the fact that you will never get abs. Your parents are overweight, your siblings too and being fluffy, as we like to call it is just something you will have to get use to. However, if you think you may still have a chance of getting those abs then keep reading because maybe you are just doing something wrong.
2. Not drinking enough water
Dude, stop drinking so much soda, juice and other beverages that are not water! It is known that in order to stay healthy one needs to drink at least 8 -10 bottles of water a day. So, get your drink on, but make sure it is water that you are drinking.
3. You drink too much beer
Ok, we just told you to eliminate every beverage that is not water! So, this Friday when you are out with the guys, make sure you order a bottle of water instead of alcohol. Beer is your worst enemy when working on your abs. However, all types of liquor have a lot of calories, so it is time to cut out the beer, whiskey, scotch, bourbon, rye or any type of drink that is not water and avoid that beer belly.
4. Not getting enough sleep
With all the partying that you are use to when you are out drinking only means that you are not getting enough sleep. Whether is partying or staying up late during the week, you will need to manage your time better and get your rest on. We all need at least 8 hours of sleep to energize the body. If you are working out to achieve those magical abs then you best believe you need to get enough sleep.
5. Not working out
So you say you want abs? Well get your ass up and start working out! Those abs are not just going to come knocking at your door saying here we are. You may have a shortage of muscle so you need to work and build those abdominal muscles. Make sure to hit the gym and start working out. We suggest hitting the weights and doing cardio exercises.
6. Concentrating too much on your abs
Even though we suggest working out we don’t mean working on your abs every day. Just like you wouldn’t work on your chest, arms or legs every day, you should also not work on your abs every day. Cardio exercises are great because they are for your entire body and help you lose calories, however crunches and other abdominal workouts should be done every other day or every other 2 days. Your diet is very important so don’t concentrate on only working on your abs.
7. Not eating the right foods
Normally we think we only need to eat protein when working on our abs. This may be true and protein is definitely great to add to your diet, however; carbs are also needed and good for the body. I know you are thinking it is not true and yes carbs like pasta, rice, bread and potatoes may sometimes be good and not. Having a low-carb diet may be great for fat loss, but may not be the answer to getting those abs you want. Certain fat-fighting hormones begin to change when your carb intake is too low, and this actually causes your metabolism to shut down. If that happens then forget about getting those abs and burning away those calories you need to lose. So, make sure to get your carb intake either in the morning or go high-carb once a week to keep the balance steady. Your abs will thank you.
8. Eating with your eyes
We just told you to eat correctly so stop binging with food. This weekend when you go over to your family’s place for mother’s day, and if your family is anything like my mom and aunts I’m sure there will be tons of food that you will want to indulge yourself with. Well, you will need to control those eyes and eat what is right for you. Cheating on the weekends never works and is something we normally say to ourselves so we can stuff our faces and feel ok that we ate so much, but if you want those abs then you will need to watch what you eat every day, on the weekends and even during the holidays.
